Job Description

Description Under the direct supervision of the Charge Nurse within the Operating Room, the Surgical Tech completes surgical set-ups according to department standards. The Surgical Tech ensures and is responsible for the care of the patient in the surgical suite, and is responsible for the surgical instrumentation and the preparation of supplies and equipment used, as well as other related duties. Duties include anticipating patient needs at the sterile field, related to preparing for all supplies, instruments and equipment. The Surgical Tech is responsible for implementing knowledge of aseptic technique, practices related to prevention of retained foreign objects, safe medication labeling and handling, anticipatory skills related to the sequence of the procedure, and safe specimen handling. Qualifications We are seeking a highly-skilled, self-motivated professional with: + Surgical technician certification from an accredited school or program, required + Minimum two years experience, including orthopedic and robotic surgery + Ability to move heavy objects, apply aseptic technique, knowledge of a variety of operating room equipment and instrumentation + Ability to handle equipment carefully and safely, and stand for extended periods of time + Ability to read, write, and speak the English language UCLA Health welcomes all individuals, without regard to race, sex, sexual orientation, gender identity, religion, national origin or disabilities, and we proudly look to each person's unique achievements and experiences to further set us apart.
