Reports To: Plant Manager or Director of Operations

Position Summary:

A leading manufacturing company is seeking a Safety & Quality Manager to oversee plant safety programs and ensure product quality compliance with food safety and regulatory standards. This individual will be responsible for the implementation and maintenance of SQF systems, OSHA safety standards, and continuous improvement initiatives across the facility.

Key Responsibilities:

Safety Management

• Develop and implement workplace safety programs and ensure compliance with OSHA and local safety regulations.
• Lead safety training, audits, and risk assessments to maintain a safe work environment.
• Investigate incidents, perform root cause analysis, and establish corrective and preventive measures.
• Foster a culture of safety awareness, accountability, and proactive hazard identification.

Quality Assurance & Food Safety

• Manage all aspects of the Safe Quality Food (SQF) program including documentation, internal audits, certifications, and inspections.
• Ensure compliance with applicable regulations such as FDA, GMP, and HACCP.
• Lead investigations into quality issues and implement corrective/preventive actions (CAPA).
• Collaborate with production and engineering teams to uphold product quality standards.

Regulatory Compliance & Documentation

• Maintain all documentation related to quality, safety, and regulatory compliance.
• Serve as point of contact for external auditors and regulatory inspections.
• Develop and maintain Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs), training logs, and incident records.

Team Leadership & Training

• Supervise quality and safety personnel, including training, performance management, and daily oversight.
• Train staff on food safety practices, quality standards, and safety procedures.
• Promote continuous improvement through data analysis, team engagement, and Lean/Six Sigma principles.

Qualifications:

• Bachelor’s degree in Food Science, Quality, Environmental Health & Safety, or a related field.
• Minimum of 5 years of experience in a manufacturing or food processing environment.
• SQF Practitioner certification is required.
• Strong knowledge of HACCP, GMPs, OSHA regulations, and FDA compliance.
• Proven ability to lead audits, manage cross-functional teams, and implement quality/safety systems.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with strong organizational and analytical abilities.

Preferred Qualifications:

• Lean Six Sigma or other continuous improvement certification.
• Experience with root cause analysis tools (5 Whys, Fishbone, etc.).
• Working knowledge of ERP or QMS platforms.
